The Western Frontier of Pandora is expanding. Following the successful launch of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora in December 2023, Ubisoft and developer Massive Entertainment have delivered on their promise of post-launch content, detailing a two-part roadmap of major story expansions. The first DLC, "The Sky Breaker," launched in summer 2024, with the second, "Secrets of the Spires," set to follow in the fall.

This two-pronged approach confirms Ubisoft's commitment to building upon the immersive world of the Western Frontier, offering players new narratives, regions, and gameplay challenges. Both story packs are included for owners of the Season Pass and are also available for individual purchase on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Part 1: The Sky Breaker (Released July 16, 2024)

The first chapter of the game's post-launch story, "The Sky Breaker," arrived on July 16, 2024. This expansion calls players back to the Upper Plains for what should be a joyous occasion: the great festival of games, where several Na'vi clans have gathered to celebrate.

However, the shadow of the RDA looms large. The celebration is tragically interrupted by a surprise attack from the corporation, casting a dark cloud over the gathering. Players must once again take up their bows and face this renewed RDA threat that now endangers the Heart of the Plains. The story challenges players to protect their allies and uncover the secrets behind the RDA's sudden and devastating assault. "The Sky Breaker" introduces new challenges and continues the journey of the Sarentu Na'vi in the aftermath of the main campaign's events.

Part 2: Secrets of the Spires (Coming Fall 2024)

The adventure continues in "Secrets of the Spires," scheduled for release in Fall 2024. This second major expansion promises to introduce a completely new region and a new focus on one of the game's most exhilarating features: aerial combat.

In this DLC, players will take to the skies on their ikran to engage in high-stakes dogfights against RDA forces. The expansion is centered around uncovering the mysteries of a new, unexplored canyon region. The RDA is conducting a massive mining operation, threatening to destroy the area and extract its secrets. Players will be tasked with restoring peace to this new region, mastering aerial combat techniques, and discovering a hidden clan of Na'vi who have made the spires their home. This DLC is poised to significantly enhance the game's verticality and introduce dynamic new combat scenarios.

Massive Entertainment's Post-Launch Pedigree

The development of these expansions is in capable hands. Massive Entertainment has a proven track record of robust post-launch support, most notably with The Division series. That franchise has received years of significant updates, including new story content, gameplay modes, and vast new areas to explore. This history gives Frontiers of Pandora players confidence that both "The Sky Breaker" and "Secrets of the Spires" will be substantial and polished experiences.

Massive's expertise in building dense, living worlds is one of the core strengths of the base game. The prospect of them applying that skill to new narratives—introducing a festival under siege in the plains and a brand-new canyon region—is an exciting one. Their Snowdrop engine is more than capable of rendering the stunning beauty of these new frontiers and the destructive force of the RDA's machinery. These DLCs are the studio's opportunity to show players how the Western Frontier can evolve and change over time.

The Journey Continues

With "The Sky Breaker" already available and "Secrets of the Spires" on the horizon, the story of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is far from over. This two-part expansion plan provides a clear and exciting roadmap for fans eager to spend more time in the breathtaking world Massive Entertainment has created. While not directly tied to a film release, this continued support for the game keeps the universe vibrant and alive as fans await the next cinematic chapter from James Cameron. The ongoing fight for Pandora continues, offering players new reasons to reconnect with their Na'vi heritage and protect the world from the RDA.
