Elden Ring Sacred Tear Guide: All 12 Locations to Maximize Flasks

Last Updated: November 3, 2025

Elden Ring Sacred Tear locations guide: maximize your flasks.

In the sprawling, hostile Lands Between, the difference between victory and the crushing finality of "YOU DIED" often comes down to a single, desperate swig from your flask. While Golden Seeds increase the number of sips you can take, it's the rare and precious Sacred Tears that determine how much life each of those sips restores. Enhancing your flask's potency is one of the most critical upgrades in Elden Ring, turning a minor top-up into a battle-swinging surge of health.

Sacred Tears are finite, hidden within the crumbling ruins of churches scattered across the continent. Finding all 12 is a pilgrimage that will test your exploratory spirit, but the reward is a fully powered Flask of Crimson or Cerulean Tears, reinforced to its +12 maximum. For any Tarnished with ambitions of becoming Elden Lord, this is not just a side quest—it's essential preparation. This definitive guide pinpoints every Sacred Tear location, ensuring your flask becomes a legendary font of life.

What Do Sacred Tears Do in Elden Ring?

A Sacred Tear is a key item used at any Site of Grace to permanently upgrade the amount of HP or FP restored by your Flask of Crimson Tears and Flask of Cerulean Tears. Each tear you find and use provides one level of reinforcement.

They are almost always found at the foot of large, broken statues inside dilapidated churches, emitting a faint golden glow that makes them easy to spot. Your hunt will take you from the starting fields of Limgrave to the frozen peaks of the giants, with each discovery marking a significant increase in your survivability.

Limgrave & Weeping Peninsula Sacred Tear Locations (4 Total)

Your journey begins in the relative safety of Limgrave and its southern peninsula, where four tears can be secured early to give you a powerful head start.

  1. Third Church of Marika

Likely the first Sacred Tear for most players, this church is located in the eastern part of Limgrave, just north of the Mistwood. Follow the main road east from the Gatefront Ruins and then head north. The tear is at the base of the statue. Don’t miss the Flask of Wondrous Physick, another crucial item found right beside it.

  2. Church of Pilgrimage

Venture south across the Bridge of Sacrifice into the Weeping Peninsula. This church sits atop a high cliff in the northern part of the region, west of the Demihuman Forest Ruins. You can reach it by following the main road north from the Castle Morne Rampart Site of Grace.

  3. Callu Baptismal Church

Also in the Weeping Peninsula, this church is tucked away in the southern forest. From the Castle Morne Rampart Site of Grace, head southwest through the woods. The church is filled with plague-ridden rats, so clear them out before safely claiming the Sacred Tear from the statue.

  4. Fourth Church of Marika

This secluded ruin is on the far western side of the Weeping Peninsula. From the Church of Pilgrimage, travel southwest past the Weeping Evergaol. The church is just downhill, offering a quiet moment and your final flask upgrade for this region.

Liurnia of the Lakes Sacred Tear Locations (2 Total)

The misty, sunken landscape of Liurnia holds two more tears within its grand, decaying churches.

  1. Church of Irith

Immediately after defeating Godrick the Grafted and exiting Stormveil Castle into Liurnia, this church will be directly in front of you. It's impossible to miss and provides an immediate and welcome boost for the challenges ahead. Sorcerer Thops can also be found nearby.

  2. Bellum Church

Found in the northeastern section of Liurnia, this church is situated along the main road that leads toward the Grand Lift of Dectus. It's west of the Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel and guarded by several Cuckoo soldiers. Secure the Site of Grace inside before grabbing the tear.

Caelid Sacred Tear Location (1 Total)

The scarlet-blighted hellscape of Caelid offers only one tear, a small beacon of hope in a land defined by rot.

  1. Church of the Plague

This church overlooks the Town of Sellia from a bluff in eastern Caelid and is a key location in Millicent's questline. To reach it, you must first break the seal on Sellia, Town of Sorcery, by lighting the braziers on the rooftops, which opens a gateway at the rear of the town leading directly to the church.

Altus Plateau Sacred Tear Locations (3 Total)

After ascending to the Altus Plateau, your search for Sacred Tears continues in this autumnal, war-torn region.

  1. Second Church of Marika

Follow the main road north from the Altus Highway Junction Site of Grace. You'll see this ruined church just off the road to the west. Be prepared for a fight, as you will be invaded by Eleonora, Violet Bloody Finger, as you approach. Defeat her to claim both the tear and her Purifying Crystal Tear.

  2. Stormcaller Church

Located on a high cliff on the southern edge of the plateau, just west of the walls of Leyndell, Royal Capital. This church is perpetually battered by a lightning storm and guarded by a host of Leyndell soldiers. The tear waits inside at the base of the statue.

  3. Woodfolk Ruins

This is a notable exception to the "church" rule. In the poison-filled valley in the far north of Altus Plateau, west of the Minor Erdtree, you'll find the Woodfolk Ruins. While not a church, a Sacred Tear can be found at the base of a large statue at the southern end of these ruins, guarded by several wormface enemies.

Mountaintops of the Giants Sacred Tear Locations (2 Total)

In the final, frozen expanse of the game, two last Sacred Tears await to complete your flask's reinforcement.

  1. First Church of Marika

In the eastern section of the Mountaintops, this church is found on the southern edge of the large frozen lake, south of the Freezing Lake Site of Grace. Visibility can be poor, but the structure is a key landmark. Beware of the icy dragon, Borealis the Freezing Fog, that patrols this lake.

  2. Church of Repose

The final Sacred Tear is located in the southwestern portion of the Mountaintops, near the boss arena for the Fire Giant. From the Foot of the Forge Site of Grace, head southwest up the hill. This church is guarded by the formidable Bloody Finger Okina, who will invade as you approach. Defeat him and claim the last Sacred Tear to achieve the maximum flask potency of +12, a true testament to your dedication as you prepare for the final battles of your journey.
