The Deep Sea Grind: Mastering Geodes in Abyss

Roblox is currently drowning in fishing simulators, but Abyss is trying something different by dragging players into a "Fisch meets Subnautica" nightmare. Instead of chilling on a pier, you’re stuck at the bottom of the ocean, taking orders from a multi-tentacled eldritch horror known as The Kraken. If you're looking to survive the Forgotten Depths, you need to understand Geodes. They aren't just rocks; they are your ticket to the Artifacts required to manage your oxygen and cooldowns. Here is the technical breakdown of how to farm them and why they matter for your early-game progression.

How to Secure Geodes: The Fishing Minigame

The Kraken gives you a vague hint that fish swallow Geodes, but the actual mechanic is a multitasking test. Geodes are tied to the **treasure bonuses** that trigger during the reeling minigame. When you start pulling in a catch, a treasure chest icon may appear on your minigame bar. To secure the loot, you have to keep your catch bar over that chest until its specific progress bar fills up. The catch? You have to do this without losing the fish. If you successfully balance both, you’ll walk away with a reward, which has a high probability of being a Geode—specifically the Moss Geode variant in the early areas.

Virelia and the Geode Gacha

A Geode is useless until it's cracked. You’ll need to head to the **Forgotten Dome** and find an NPC named **Virelia**, located near The Kraken. * The Cost: You’ll have to pay Virelia to open the Geode. * The Cooldown: This isn't an instant process. There is a short wait timer before the contents are revealed. We recommend heading back out to fish while she works to maximize your time-to-loot ratio. * The RNG: This is essentially a gacha system. Most of the time, you’re going to get Sea Stars (the common filler), but the goal is to pull high-tier Artifacts.

Why Geodes Are Essential for the Meta

We believe ignoring Geodes is a massive mistake for new players. Outside of the fact that The Kraken demands them for early-game quests—which are your best source of fast cash—the **Artifacts** found inside are game-changers. Artifacts are equipable items that provide passive buffs. In a game where your survival is tied to a literal oxygen timer, pulling an Artifact that grants an oxygen boost or lower cooldowns is the difference between a successful run and a forced respawn. They are the primary way to min-max your build while stuck in the depths.

The Verdict on Abyss

Abyss is a bizarre, stressful twist on the Roblox fishing genre. While the Kraken quest involving Geodes is arguably the most confusing starting objective, the payoff is worth the headache. The loop of catching, cracking, and equipping Artifacts creates a solid progression hook that sets it apart from its more "relaxed" competitors. Just prepare yourself for a lot of Sea Stars before you hit that god-tier O2 buff.
