Delta Force Meltdown Season Adds Reactive AZ3 Extraction Map

Team Jade is looking to shake up the standard extraction shooter formula with the launch of the Meltdown season for Delta Force, now available on Xbox Series X|S. Instead of the typical static map design, the studio has introduced AZ3—an ambitious, reactive environment where the map itself functions as a primary character in the operation.

⚡ Quick Facts
  • New Map: AZ3
  • Season: Meltdown
  • Platform: Xbox Series X|S
  • New Operator: N-Two

Reimagining the Extraction Experience

According to Game Director Shadow Guo and Game Design Director Ricky, the goal for AZ3 was to move beyond simply dropping players into a loop of looting and escaping. The map is built around a specific narrative: players are special operators tasked with intervening at a nuclear plant where Haavk forces have been conducting dangerous experiments. This story acts as the primary motivation, pushing players to decide whether to stabilize the reactor or prioritize their own extraction.

The map is designed to be "alive." As the match progresses, player actions—such as firefights or looting—can trigger environmental changes like gas leaks and explosions. The center of the map, which houses Haavk’s modern reactor, serves as the most contested area, surrounded by a contrasting landscape of eerie, rusted scrapyards and decommissioned nuclear facilities.

Dynamic Threats and Radiation Mechanics

The danger in AZ3 extends well beyond rival players. Haavk’s mechanized units and elite soldiers are stationed throughout the facility to monitor and suppress intruders. Some units are specifically equipped to use high-pitched signals to expose your position, forcing players into a constant game of cat and mouse.

Radiation acts as a persistent environmental hazard that players must actively manage. Exposure leads to escalating effects: beginning with minor vision static and pain, and eventually resulting in fractures and severe visual distortion that even painkillers cannot mitigate. Players can manage their radiation levels by using decontamination rooms or scavenging equipment from defeated Haavk guards.

The map also features a formidable boss, H1000. Described as a humanoid weapon, H1000 is designed for relentless pursuit, utilizing superhuman mobility to close gaps and force players into high-stakes melee encounters.

Player Agency and Match Outcomes

Perhaps the most significant change to the extraction loop is how a match concludes. The fate of the nuclear plant is not scripted; it is decided by the combined actions of everyone in the lobby. Players can choose to work toward shutting down the reactor or ignore the crisis entirely to focus on looting. If the reactor reaches a point of failure, it forces a countdown to a final evacuation, meaning no two runs share the same trajectory.

Alongside the new map, the Meltdown season introduces a new operator, N-Two, who possesses a personal connection to the disaster unfolding in Ahsarah. Delta Force remains free-to-play on Xbox Series X|S, with the development team maintaining its commitment to a no-pay-to-win model and active anti-cheat measures.
