The Age of Hatred has officially concluded in Diablo IV, and a new threat is rising. Blizzard has confirmed that the next seasonal update, Season of Death Awakening, will arrive on June 30 at 10:00 a.m. PDT. Players can begin pre-downloading patch 3.1.0 on June 25 across all supported platforms, including Battle.net, Xbox, and PlayStation.
Pandemonium Ruptures and the Death Cult
The new season centers on the appearance of arcane rifts known as Pandemonium Ruptures. These rifts will spawn throughout Sanctuary, with higher concentrations appearing in Helltide zones. By closing these rifts and sealing tears, players earn 'Glints of Hope,' which can be traded for rewards at the reputation board in Zarbinzet.
The season introduces the 'Risen' monster family, including Gravehounds, and a new seasonal Lair Boss: the Corrupted Reaper. Defeating the Reaper in its Zarbinzet lair is the most efficient way to farm Pandemonium Fragments and Mythic Uniques. For those seeking a greater challenge, the 'Deathtoll Chamber'—a special mini-dungeon accessible via Realmwalkers or Nightmare Dungeons with the Rupture affix—offers the best source for Superior Lair Keys.
Mythic Uniques 3.0 and Crafting Overhaul
Blizzard is fundamentally changing how the game's most powerful gear functions. In Season 14, 'Mythic' becomes an item quality rather than a rarity. Players can now convert any 850+ Unique item into a Mythic Unique of the same slot using the Horadric Cube or the Jeweler. These items always drop as Ancestral quality and feature their Unique powers increased by 30%.
Following feedback from the 3.1.0 Public Test Realm, the crafting system has been refined. When converting a Unique item, players are now guaranteed to receive a random Mythic Unique for that same specific item slot. Additionally, all Uniques now feature two guaranteed affixes, and players can use the Enchanter to reroll one undesirable affix on any Unique, Mythic Unique, or Iconic Mythic.
Solo Self Found and Tower Updates
Lone wolves can finally test their skills in the newly added Solo Self Found (SSF) mode. This permanent character state prevents trading and partying, forces players to manage their own stash and resources, and features exclusive SSF-only leaderboards.
The Tower and its associated leaderboards are also exiting beta, bringing new cosmetic rewards, including Halo headpieces and prestige titles for top-performing players. These rewards are distributed at the end of each leaderboards reset and season.
Limited-Time Warlock Trial and Overwatch Collaboration
Players curious about the Warlock class can participate in a free trial from June 30 to July 7, allowing them to test the class up to level 30. Furthermore, a surprise collaboration with Overwatch kicks off at season launch. By defeating elite monsters, players can earn 'Eye of the Overwatch' currency to unlock legendary cosmetics, weapon skins, and a Fox Spirit companion in the Overwatch Reliquary. Exclusive skins will also be available for purchase in Tejal’s Shop starting at 12:00 p.m. PT on June 30.
