Hidetaka Miyazaki Confirms New Projects in Development at FromSoftware

FromSoftware has officially confirmed that it is working on multiple unannounced titles, providing a brief glimmer of insight into the studio's future amid ongoing investor uncertainty at its parent company, Kadokawa.

In a recent email statement to the Japanese gaming site Denfaminico Gamer, FromSoftware boss Hidetaka Miyazaki addressed the studio's current status. While Miyazaki largely demurred when asked about the recent, highly publicized activity from activist investors at Kadokawa—specifically Hong Kong-based hedge fund Oasis Management—he offered a clear message regarding the team's creative autonomy.

"I am generally satisfied with the development environment" under Kadokawa, Miyazaki wrote. He emphasized that the studio is currently "able to freely create the games we want to make without excessive interference," adding that maintaining this environment is of "utmost importance" to both himself and the company.

The Future Beyond Duskbloods

For fans currently tracking the studio's output, the landscape of upcoming releases has been relatively quiet. Currently, the only confirmed project from FromSoftware is the Nintendo Switch 2-exclusive multiplayer title, Duskbloods. However, Miyazaki’s latest comments suggest that the studio is far from finished with its slate of projects.

"We want to assure you that we will continue to work harder than ever to create truly valuable games," Miyazaki told Denfaminico Gamer. "We hope you will look forward to our upcoming titles, both those already announced and those yet to be announced."

While this confirms that multiple secret projects are in the pipeline, the studio has yet to share any release windows or specific details for these titles. The update comes at a delicate time for FromSoftware’s parent company. As reported by Automaton, Oasis Management has acquired a majority share in Kadokawa and is currently pushing for the removal of its CEO. Part of the friction involves the hedge fund's criticism of Kadokawa’s strategy, specifically regarding its decision to allow FromSoftware to partner with third-party publishers like Bandai Namco rather than keeping all publishing duties in-house.

Despite the high-level corporate maneuvering, Miyazaki’s statement serves as a reassurance that the studio’s focus remains firmly on development. Whether these unannounced projects will see the light of day before the end of the year remains the primary question for the community.
