Il-2 Korea Sets Short Early Access Window with August 1.0 Launch

Early access often becomes a permanent state for many ambitious PC titles, but the developers behind Il-2 Korea are taking a different approach. 1CGS, the studio known for Rise of Flight and the Il-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles series, has confirmed that its upcoming flight simulator will spend barely a month in early access before hitting its full 1.0 release.

⚡ Quick Facts
  • Early Access Start: June 25, 2026
  • Full 1.0 Release Date: August 4, 2026
  • Map Size: Over 200,000km²
  • Launch Aircraft: 8 player-controllable planes

What to Expect on June 25

The early access launch on June 25 is timed to mark the 76th anniversary of the Korean War’s start in 1950. While the developers are keeping the testing period brief, players will have access to three primary game modes: multiplayer, single missions, and the quick mission generator. 1CGS plans to host both casual and realistic multiplayer servers featuring basic team deathmatch missions, though the community is expected to introduce more complex, persistent frontline scenarios shortly after.

For those flying solo, the initial release will offer narrative-driven missions based on historical events. If you need to practice, the quick mission generator and free flight presets allow for target practice against air targets or bombing runs on airfields. Additionally, new players can utilize "Exams" for four of the eight available aircraft to learn operational procedures for these complex machines.

It is worth noting that the game's primary single-player campaign, Career Mode, will not be available on the June 25 launch date.

Aircraft Lineup and Future Content

At launch, Il-2 Korea will feature eight player-controllable aircraft, including the F-86A-5 Sabre, MiG-15bis, F-51D Mustang, Yak-9P, F-80C-10 Shooting Star, and the Il-10. Those who pre-order the standard or founder’s editions gain immediate access to two collector planes: the American F-84E Thunderjet and the Soviet La-11.

Beyond the initial roster, the title includes a variety of AI-controlled aircraft, such as the B-29 Superfortress, Tu-2 bombers, and the C-47 transport. The action will take place on a massive map spanning over 200,000km², making it the largest in the history of the Il-2 series.

Founder's Edition owners are also set to receive an unannounced DLC. While details are currently under wraps, indications point toward an expansion focused on naval aviation, which would likely introduce aircraft carriers and iconic naval aircraft to the simulation.

You can purchase Il-2 Korea via the official website starting June 25. The game is scheduled to arrive on Steam alongside its 1.0 release on August 4.
