Last Updated: November 3, 2025

Captains, man your battle stations! Wargaming has deployed the significant Update 13.5 for its flagship naval combat title, World of Warships. This major content drop commemorates the 80th anniversary of D-Day with a special new Operation, introduces a full new line of Commonwealth cruisers in Early Access, and delivers a host of balance changes and quality-of-life improvements. The update is now live for all players on PC, ushering in a summer season packed with new strategic challenges.
The digital seas are churning with new activity as Wargaming has officially rolled out Update 13.5 for World of Warships. Following a period of public testing, this patch delivers one of the year's most anticipated events and continues the game's regular cadence of fresh content. Live service games like World of Warships thrive on these regular infusions, which keep the experience engaging for veteran commanders while offering compelling new reasons for players to return to the high seas.
Operation Overlord: Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of D-Day
The centerpiece of Update 13.5 is "Operation Overlord," a new PvE scenario dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings. In this limited-time game mode, players will take control of Tier V-VII Allied battleships, cruisers, and destroyers to support the historic amphibious assault.
The Operation unfolds in three distinct phases:
- Coastal Assault: Players must suppress enemy shore batteries and clear coastal defenses to prepare the way for landing craft.
- Breaching the Defenses: Captains will need to navigate treacherous minefields and engage enemy naval patrols attempting to repel the invasion force.
- Securing the Beachhead: The final phase involves providing crucial naval gunfire support to protect Allied troops as they land on the beaches.
Players can earn a variety of thematic rewards, including the "D-Day" commemorative flag, historical commanders, and a special permanent camouflage for the newly revamped Tier VIII battleship West Virginia '44, which has received a full visual model update in this patch.
Commonwealth Cruisers Arrive in Early Access
A brand-new tech tree line makes its debut as Commonwealth cruisers enter Early Access. Ten new ships, from Tier I to Tier X, are now available through the new "Commonwealth Team" event containers and bundles. These ships are known for their unique characteristics, offering a distinct playstyle:
- Crawling Smoke Generator: This signature consumable lays a smoke screen while the ship moves at low speeds, allowing for aggressive repositioning or a tactical retreat while still laying down fire.
- Specialized Armament: Many of these cruisers come equipped with powerful HE shells and have access to Hydroacoustic Search, making them versatile hunters of both destroyers and lightly armored targets.
The line culminates in the Tier X cruiser Balao, a formidable vessel capable of adapting to multiple roles on the battlefield. The full line will become researchable for all players in a future update.
Asymmetric Battles and Balance Adjustments
The popular Asymmetric Battle mode makes a return, pitting a small team of higher-tier player ships against a much larger force of lower-tier bot-controlled ships. This mode offers a different strategic challenge and is an excellent way to earn Ship XP and credits.
Furthermore, Update 13.5 implements a wide range of balance adjustments to existing ships to ensure a healthy and competitive meta. Several submarines and aircraft carriers have seen tweaks to their performance characteristics, and specific adjustments have been made to a number of tech tree and premium ships based on player feedback and performance data. Players are encouraged to review the full patch notes for detailed information on how their favorite vessels may have been changed.
The patch also includes a new Battle Pass season, updated daily and weekly missions, and various other technical improvements and bug fixes. Update 13.5 is now available for all World of Warships players on PC and will be downloaded automatically via the Wargaming.net Game Center or Steam client.
