Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 Officially Arrives This Fall

Netflix officially pulled the curtain back on the long-awaited return of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners at Anime Expo 2026. The hit series is set to return to the streaming platform this Fall, bringing a brand new 10-episode story to the world of Cyberpunk 2077.
- Release Window: Fall 2026
- Episode Count: 10 episodes
- Studio: TRIGGER
- New Director: Kai Ikarashi
A New Crew for a New Story
If you were hoping for a direct continuation of the original cast, be warned: the show is moving on. Following the events of the first season where almost everyone—including David—flatlined, the second season shifts focus to a completely new squad of edgerunners.
Over the last four days, Netflix and CD Projekt Red have been teasing the new lineup. The final reveal confirms the full crew, characterized by a "raw chronicle of redemption and revenge." The team is comprised of:
- Weak 'King' Kingsley: A veteran edgerunner now living in the shadow of his former glory.
- D: A Snack Nation Netrunner currently on a mission to hunt down the killer who wiped out his clan.
- Talia Yang: A woman from the corpo towers who has traded her corporate life for a path defined by chrome and violence.
- Roman Carax: A young cinephile who spends his time searching for real stories in a city that has largely abandoned traditional cinema for braindances.
New Leadership at Studio TRIGGER
While studio TRIGGER remains at the helm, there is a significant change in the creative hierarchy. Kai Ikarashi is stepping in as director, taking over from Hiroyuki Imaishi. Ikarashi brings an extensive portfolio to the project, having previously contributed to the art department on the first season of Edgerunners, as well as work on Mob Psycho 100, Evangelion: 3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon a Time, and Little Witch Academia: The Enchanted Parade.
As for the narrative direction, the official description poses a central question for the new season: "In a city that thrives in the spotlight of violence, one question remains: when the world is blinded by spectacle, what extremes do you have to go to make your story matter?"
Fans of the Cyberpunk universe can expect the new season to hit Netflix later this year.
