Pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI are officially rolling out across the globe, and if you are looking to secure your copy on PlayStation 5, you are in for a little something extra. However, Rockstar Games has attached a specific, time-sensitive caveat to the deal that you will want to pay close attention to.
Every purchase made through the PS Store prior to the game’s launch on November 19, 2026, includes two primary bonuses: the Vintage Vice City cosmetics pack and a one-month subscription to GTA+. While the cosmetics are straightforward, the inclusion of the subscription service requires a bit of caution.
The Fine Print on Your GTA+ Bonus
The GTA+ subscription, which grants various benefits within GTA Online, will be emailed to you directly once you place your pre-order. You cannot sell or transfer this code, and it must be redeemed on the specific account used to purchase the game. You have plenty of time to decide when to use it, as the code remains valid until March 31, 2027.
The catch, and the part you should be very careful with, is the auto-renewal feature. GTA+ typically costs $7.99/£6.99/€7.99 per month. Once you activate your free month, the system will automatically charge your account for the next month unless you manually cancel the subscription. It is a classic case of a "free" perk that can quickly become an unexpected recurring expense if you aren't proactive.
How to Avoid Unexpected Charges
If you plan on taking advantage of the bonus, be sure to set a reminder for yourself. To cancel your membership and prevent an automatic charge, navigate to the PS Store on your console, select the '...' icon, and open your 'Subscriptions' menu. You will see GTA+ listed there; ensure you cancel it before the trial period concludes.
Beyond the potential for extra costs, the GTA+ subscription does offer immediate access to a variety of GTA Online perks, including free clothing and vehicles, as well as gameplay advantages. Furthermore, members get access to a rotating catalog of free Rockstar titles, such as Bully and Red Dead Redemption. It is a decent incentive, provided you manage the subscription settings correctly to avoid paying for a service you may not intend to keep.
