Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection Gets New Rudy Side Story

Capcom’s latest Spotlight presentation revealed new content for Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, which is available starting today. The update brings both paid and free content to the gaming landscape, focusing on deep-cut lore and high-difficulty encounters.

⚡ Quick Facts
  • Game: Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection
  • New Paid Content: Additional Side Story: Rudy
  • New Free Content: Royal Monster endgame challenges
  • Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, Nintendo Switch

The Rudy Expansion and Navirou's History

The headline for today’s drop is the Additional Side Story: Rudy. This paid DLC focuses on the history of the Royal Felyne, Rudy, and his connection to the series veteran Navirou. The story explores what happened to Navirou over the past 200 years, eventually bringing the ancestor and descendant together for a confrontation.

The DLC also introduces the iconic Monster Hunter: World flagship monster, Nergigante. While the spiky Elder Dragon is far too aggressive to be tamed as a Monstie, it serves as a climactic boss battle within the side story. The content is available as a standalone purchase or as part of the Deluxe and Premium Deluxe editions of the game on the PlayStation Store.

New Endgame Royal Monster Challenges

For players seeking a permanent challenge, the free update adds a new tier of endgame content known as Royal Monsters. Once you have completed the main story, you can load your save file and take on a significantly more difficult version of the final boss. Successfully defeating this encounter will cause the existing game world to be populated with powerful Royal Monsters.

This update is designed to test player limits, featuring Royal Monster versions of both invasive species and Calamitous Elder Dragons. This expansion of the endgame aims to provide a more demanding experience for those who have already cleared the core campaign.

The Capcom Spotlight also touched on other upcoming projects, including the October 9 release of Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen and new information on the upcoming Onimusha: Way of the Sword, which is slated to arrive on PlayStation 5 this September.
