TT Games Pulls Back on RAM Requirements for the Caped Crusader
TT Games is finally reading the room. After initially shocking the PC community by demanding a massive 32GB of RAM for
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, the studio has officially revised those specs downward. In a recent update on Steam, the team confirmed they are slashing the recommended RAM requirement in half, bringing it down to 16GB.
Our take? It’s a necessary pivot. While 32GB is becoming the standard for high-end enthusiast rigs, it’s a massive ask for the typically accessible Lego gaming audience. This change comes just as the hardware market is hitting a crisis point; we’ve seen an "unprecedented record-breaking surge" where RAM prices nearly doubled in the first six weeks of 2026. Expecting families or casual fans to drop premium cash on memory upgrades just to play a Lego title was a recipe for disaster.
The New Hardware Baseline
Even with the revision, this isn't exactly a "light" game. Compared to 2022’s
Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which only asked for 8GB of RAM for recommended settings,
Legacy of the Dark Knight is still a significant resource hog. 16GB is now the floor—both for minimum and recommended specs.

Optimization or Damage Control?
TT Games was clear that these specs are "not final." The studio noted: "As part of our ongoing testing... we have revised our recommended hardware specifications... we will continue to optimise and make improvements as we move closer to launch."
This signals that the previous 32GB requirement might have been a "safety net" for unoptimized code rather than a true technical necessity. We believe the team is feeling the heat from the community to get this game running on more modest hardware, especially with a Switch 2 release on the horizon. If the optimization work continues to go well, we might even see these numbers shift again before the May 29th launch.
Gotham’s Next Brick-Built Adventure
Despite the technical hurdles, the game itself looks like classic TT Games fun. Expect the usual slapstick humor mixed with a massive roster of DC legends, including the Joker, Bane, and Catwoman. We’ve already seen glimpses of the Batmobile and Batarang-heavy gameplay that suggests a much larger scope than previous Batman entries—which likely explains why your PC needs a bit more "oomph" under the hood this time around.
