Dispatch's Free 'HR Violations' DLC Fixes Most Switch Censorship

One of 2025's biggest critical darlings, Dispatch, has finally addressed its controversial Nintendo Switch port. Developer AdHoc Studio has released a free “HR Violations” DLC pack across all platforms, which effectively removes the majority of the heavy-handed censorship that plagued the Switch version at launch.

When Dispatch arrived on the console last year, it was met with significant backlash from players who criticized the aggressive use of black bars to obscure content. Many users accused the studio of false advertising, as the Switch version contained material differences from the PC and PlayStation 5 releases that were not clearly explained at the time of purchase.

A Fix for the 'Lazy' Censorship

AdHoc has admitted that the initial release failed to meet expectations. In an interview with IGN, the studio noted that it had run out of time and budget during development, leading them to use a single, highly-censored build for the Switch to ensure it complied with Nintendo’s strictest regional rating requirements. The team has since apologized for the lack of transparency regarding these regional differences.

“The success you all brought Dispatch gave us the opportunity to make this right,” AdHoc stated. “We invested development time into creating the Switch version you all should have gotten in the first place.”

The new DLC introduces various ways to handle the game's remaining visual restrictions, including comical options like wearing jorts over characters to bypass the standard black bars. These options are available on all consoles, though they are primarily aimed at providing Switch players with a more consistent experience.

Remaining Limitations on Nintendo Switch

While the update is a significant step forward, AdHoc warns that it isn’t a total removal of all restrictions. Due to “hard requirements from Nintendo,” certain elements—specifically genitalia—remain obscured. Additionally, the audio for Invisigal’s dream sequence in Episode 4 remains muted on the platform. The developer also confirmed that these changes do not apply to the Japanese version of the game, which will remain fully uncensored without the new comedy-style options.

For those looking to catch up on the latest game updates and patches, the “HR Violations” pack is available to download now. While the Nintendo port may never be identical to the uncensored versions found elsewhere, this update brings it as close to parity as the current platform requirements allow.
