Entropy: The New Vagrant Story-Inspired RPG From Dread Delusion Creators

Life in Entropy is cheap, and rot is the rule of the land. The latest project from Lovely Hellscape—the developers behind the Morrowind-inspired Dread Delusion—is an upcoming RPG that pulls heavy inspiration from the cult classic Vagrant Story. Set in a world where a plague has shrouded the landscape in fog and paranoia, the game promises a brutal experience where death is permanent and resources are scarce.
A Nasty Kingdom and Permanent Stakes
The story begins in Draenog, a city once considered a sanctuary. When reanimated corpses breach the gates, the player—a member of a traveling acting troupe—is forced into combat armed only with stage props. It is a desperate introduction to a world where, as the developers suggest, survival is a painful endeavor.
As you venture into the wildlands, you will be tasked with recruiting a party of mercenaries, stragglers, and losers. Don't get too comfortable with your companions, however; death in Entropy is permanent. Between the putrid monsters roaming the land and the paranoia fueled by the local plague, you will need to carefully manage your team and your loot if you hope to survive.
Combat and Visuals
Fans of Vagrant Story will likely recognize the combat mechanics immediately. Entropy features a pared-down version of that classic system, allowing players to strategically position their crew and target specific limbs of an enemy. Whether you are staggering an opponent or lopping off a limb to neutralize a threat, the focus is on tactical, limb-by-limb destruction.
Visually, the game is a departure from the haunting, tender lighting of its inspirations. The aesthetic is defined by artist Artyom Trakhanov, resulting in a world that feels yellow, speckled, and soiled. It is a landscape of decay, filled with buildings and boilers that groan with the sounds of a kingdom in decline. While the atmosphere is caustic, the team has leaned into a distinct visual identity that sets it apart from the bleak, oppressive tone found in other titles like the Fear & Hunger series.
Following a successful showing during the June 2026 Steam Next Fest, Entropy is currently scheduled to enter Early Access this August. For those looking to keep track of upcoming releases, you can find the store page here.
