Marathon Update Revives C.A.R.R.I. Initiative and Fixes Matchmaking

A fresh update for Marathon on PC has arrived, headlined by the return of the CyberAcme Runner Reinforcement Initiative (C.A.R.R.I.). This system introduces a new currency, CyberAcme Commendations, and a dedicated armory to help players gear up.
The C.A.R.R.I. Initiative Returns
The core of this update focuses on rewarding cooperative and objective-focused play. Runners can now earn CyberAcme Commendations, which are deposited directly into the player vault upon completing specific tasks:
- Crews: Earn +4 Commendations for each contract objective completed with a crewmate's assistance.
- Solos (Non-Rook): Earn +6 Commendations per contract objective, with a +5 bonus for extracting with other players.
- Rooks: Earn +5 Commendations for successful exfils, plus a +5 bonus for extracting with other players.
These tokens can be spent at the C.A.R.R.I. Armory, which features a weekly rotating weapon showcase. Players can claim a free enhanced weapon or purchase unique, deluxe variants. The armory also stocks reputation packs and various equipment updates as the season progresses.
Matchmaking and UI Fixes
Beyond the new initiative, the update addresses several quality-of-life issues that have hindered the Marathon experience. The development team has squashed bugs that caused the selected zone to reset between runs and prevented crew fill settings from persisting. Additionally, ready-up errors are now more transparent, with tooltips clearly explaining how to resolve issues when swapping between Trios and Duos.
Economy and Combat Adjustments
The item economy has seen a rebalancing pass. Notable changes include:
- Added weekly login rewards in the Armory under the "today's sponsors" section.
- Reduced loot quality in Night Marsh Cert containers and Prestige drops from pinnacle containers.
- Adjusted XP values for "Bluenique" weapons (1,500 down to 700) and weapon mods (Superior and Prestige tiers).
Combat-wise, a few specific weapon issues were resolved. The BR33 Volley Rifle’s Lockout Muzzle Break Prestige mod now correctly suppresses audio for the user, and the V22 Volt Thrower's firing sound should now be audible to all teammates and runners. Folding stock stat bonuses, which were previously reversed, have been corrected.
Zone Stability
Finally, players venturing into the Dire Marsh should notice fewer bugs. The update fixes floating containers, visibility issues with flashlights in the dark, and a critical bug where non-final exfil timers could incorrectly persist longer than the final exfil, causing unintended deaths.
