Pokémon Worlds 2026: Competitor Kits and New PokémonXP Reveals
Following the conclusion of the North American International Championships (NAIC), The Pokémon Company International has pulled back the curtain on what fans and competitors can expect at the 2026 World Championships in San Francisco. This year also marks the debut of PokémonXP, a new fan expo experience running alongside the main event.
For those competing in the TCG, VGC, Pokémon Go, or Pokémon Unite, the welcome kit has received a significant refresh. The 2026 San Francisco aesthetic centers on an electrified Pikachu design. This branding covers the entire suite of competitor gear, including the playmat, deck box, sleeves, lunchbox, backpack, and a Nintendo Switch screen cleaner. Champions who secure a title at the event will receive an upgraded kit featuring white and gold variants of the design, along with an exclusive jacket and baseball cap.
New Collectibles and PokémonXP
Plush collectors have two specific targets this year. Beyond the San Francisco-themed Pikachu available at the Worlds Pokémon Center, the new PokémonXP expo introduces an exclusive space-faring Pikachu. The presence of vendors like Lego, Jazwares, and Crocs at the event suggests that attendees might get a first look at upcoming merchandise collaborations this August.
The trading card game side of the event is equally packed. Three promo cards are confirmed for the 2026 cycle:
- Paradise Resort Stadium: Included in competitor kits, featuring artwork of Psyduck, Klawf, and Spheal on Lombard Street.
- World Championship-stamped Pikachu: Depicts a battle against last year’s victor, Gardevoir; available at local leagues or via the Pokémon Center.
- Ascended Heroes Rayquaza: A reprint featuring a PokémonXP stamp, potentially signaling a new annual collectible trend for the expo.
Looking Ahead to 2027
The 2026 NAIC in New Orleans served as the final tournament for that location. The Pokémon Company confirmed that the 2027 event is moving to Chicago. The choice of the Windy City aligns with the release year for Pokémon Winds and Waves, setting a major stage for the franchise's competitive scene.
