Who is Pantalone in Genshin Impact? Lore and Harbinger Status

Pantalone has been a looming presence in Genshin Impact since the early days of the Traveler's journey. While he was first introduced to players in the A Winter Night's Lazzo teaser, his influence on Teyvat’s economy has been felt since the game's launch in 2020.

The Regrator’s Role and Background

Known as the ninth of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers, Pantalone acts as the head of Snezhnaya's economic policies. His obsession with wealth stems from a childhood spent without money and the fact that he was never granted a vision. Driven by this lack, his primary ambition is to turn Snezhnaya into the central hub that regulates the world's wealth.

His influence is well-documented throughout the game. Upon arriving in Mondstadt, players learn that Pantalone personally covered the cost for the Fatui to exclusively book the Goth Grand Hotel. His economic meddling also surfaces in the character stories of Yelan and Noelle.

Lore and Personality

Much of what we know about the Regrator originates from the Pale Flame artifact set. His story is tied to the 'Moment of Cessation' sands of eon, a pocket watch that never opens and bears a striking resemblance to a Fatui delusion.

Fellow Harbingers have distinct views on his methods. Childe describes him as being "fueled by raw ambition," while the Wanderer notes that Pantalone is obsessed with the concept of "fair exchange" to the point of wanting to challenge the imbalance between gods and humans. Notably, the Wanderer does not view him as a significant threat and has suggested that his partnership with Dottore is headed for a "nasty end."

Pantalone in Update 6.6

After years of background influence, Pantalone finally made his in-game debut during the 6.6 update as part of the Nod-Krai storyline. While he is now appearing in the Snezhnaya questline, it remains unclear if HoYoverse will make him a playable character or keep him in the role of an antagonist NPC.
