Assassin's Creed Shadows Update 1.1.11 Adds Modern-Day Prologue

Ubisoft is officially wrapping up Assassin's Creed Shadows, but its final update is less of a goodbye and more of a bridge to the franchise's future. Alongside a brand-new ending for Yasuke and Naoe and grueling endgame trials, update 1.1.11 introduces a Black Flag Resynced modern-day prologue, setting the stage for the remake's launch next month.
The Horizon Rift and Black Flag Resynced
For players who have already conquered the previous two Animus Rifts, the third and final offering, Horizon, is now available. This brief quest culminates in a cryptic warning from The Guide, who urges players to "search for an antidote to tyranny." Upon stepping through the rift's final portal, The Guide drops a major bombshell regarding the upcoming remake: "I call familiar waters to the forefront. The one at the helm will guide you towards clever independence. A much-needed perspective."
This teaser confirms that the Black Flag Resynced remake is essentially a sequel. Instead of following a faceless Abstergo employee, players will view Edward Kenway’s life through a new lens, one that the developers—creative director Paul Fu and game director Richard Knight—have described as more authentic to his "real" history. The update also includes two crossover projects, Riptides & Undertow, allowing players to unlock Black Flag Resynced-themed outfits, weapons, and trinkets.
New Content for Yasuke and Naoe
The update also addresses the game's original ending with a new questline titled "Black Tides." In this mission, two elite-level Templars known as the 'Black Cross' are summoned to Japan to deal with Yasuke and Naoe following the events of the main campaign. The quest ties directly into Assassin's Creed Rogue and the broader Kenway saga, serving as a narrative bridge to the Caribbean-focused remake.

Domains Endgame Trials
Beyond the narrative updates, patch 1.1.11 introduces Domains. These virtual trials are engineered by the modern-day Assassin hacker MOD and introduce a scaling difficulty system paired with a dedicated progression tree. Pushing through these gauntlets yields an exclusive in-game currency that can be spent at the in-game shop. The shop has been updated with dozens of new and remixed outfits, high-tier weapons, and unique character engravings for players to unlock as they finalize their journey in Assassin's Creed Shadows.
