Cooler Master Q300L V3 Review: A Budget mATX Case Gets a Modern Refresh

Cooler Master has officially brought its latest iteration of the popular Q300L series to market. The Q300L V3 retains the familiar mATX form factor that made previous models a staple for budget-conscious builders, but it arrives with a handful of quality-of-life improvements and better modularity for 2026.
Perhaps the most compelling aspect of this launch is the pricing. At $44.49, the V3 maintains the aggressive affordability of the V1 and V2 models, positioning itself well against cases that often command double that price. Currently, the black version is the only model listed at Amazon.
Refined Connectivity and Build Specs
The most significant functional upgrade sits on the front I/O panel. Cooler Master has overhauled the connectivity, adding a high-speed USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C port, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, and a combo audio jack. This is a welcome change for users working with mATX or mini-ITX boards, where rear-panel ports can often feel insufficient.
Beyond the ports, the case is notably more spacious. The V3 has grown 12.5% compared to the original, allowing for higher-spec hardware. The internal dimensions now support:
- CPU Cooler clearance: 178mm
- GPU clearance: 366mm
- AIO support: Up to 240/120mm radiators
The case ships with a single 140mm rear fan pre-installed. For those who enjoy customizing their setup, the dot-textured chassis panels remain a standout feature, allowing for 3D-printed add-ons like headset hooks, handles, or custom mounting systems.
Flexible Design Choices
Modularity remains a core focus of the Q300L line. You can reposition the front I/O to various locations—including the top or rear of the top panel—to suit your desk layout. The design also accommodates users who prefer to lay the case on its side, a versatility that is rare at this price point.
However, the design isn't without a trade-off. The V3 still lacks a hidden power supply unit (PSU) tray. While leaving the tray open can improve airflow to the main chamber, it also leaves your PSU cables exposed behind the tempered glass side panel. For builders looking for a clean, minimalist aesthetic, this may require some extra effort in cable management.
While the black model is what you can buy today, keep an eye out for potential future updates. During Computex, Cooler Master teased white and wood-finished variants of the case, which could offer a more premium look for those willing to wait for additional stock. For now, the Q300L V3 stands as a functional, budget-friendly option for anyone planning a smaller PC build.
