- Official Release: July 28, 2026

Co-Op Scaling and Difficulty Modifiers
Co-op play in Halo: Campaign Evolved features dynamic scaling to keep the challenge fair regardless of lobby size. As you add more players, you can expect higher enemy counts and smarter AI that will prioritize efficient targeting and grenade avoidance. To account for varying skill levels within a fireteam, the game introduces Difficulty Modifiers.
These settings allow individual players to adjust their own damage resistance, shield recharge rates, and damage output. While this provides a customizable experience, note that enabling these modifiers will disable specific achievements for the entire fireteam.
Skulls, 3rd Person Mode, and Gameplay Mechanics
The game's signature "Skull" modifiers are not active by default; you must find them hidden throughout the missions. There are three to collect per mission, with an additional three granted upon unlocking the Campaign Remix feature. While there is no dedicated Photo Mode, players can utilize the Blind Skull (to hide the HUD) and the Acrophobia Skull (to fly) for custom screenshot opportunities.
For those interested in the new 3rd Person mode, it is an optional perspective that can be enabled once you locate the "Perspective" Skull. Additionally, the developers confirmed that the classic "backpack reload" glitch from the original Halo: Combat Evolved has been honored via the "Stowed Reload" Skull, which allows weapons to reload while holstered.
Armor and Narrative Fidelity
Customization remains a priority, but the developers are drawing a hard line when it comes to narrative immersion. Personalized Spartan armor will not appear in cutscenes to ensure the story remains faithful to the original vision. Similarly, the Mark IV armor set is reserved exclusively for the three new prequel missions and cannot be equipped during the base 10 campaign missions. Sgt. Johnson’s Stanchion is also restricted to his personal use within those prequel missions.
Finally, the team confirmed that Halo: Campaign Evolved is a focused remake of the original campaign experience. There are no plans to pivot the title into a live-service model, meaning no additional post-launch story DLC, Firefight modes, or further content expansions are currently in development.
