If you're playing as the Skitarii in Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, you've likely noticed that your character doesn't rely on standard cooldown timers. Instead, the class uses a unique mechanic called Skitarii Capacitance. Because this system is only explained during basic training, it’s easy to overlook how it functions—even though it’s central to your talent tree and overall build effectiveness.

How Skitarii Capacitance Works

Think of Capacitance like an "ultimate charge" system found in games like Overwatch or Apex Legends. Your main abilities—Chordclaw Strike, Voltaic Emitter, or Advanced Combat Doctrines—cannot be used until you build up to 100% Capacitance. You can track this progress via the blue bar filling your ability icon.

Once you reach 100%, you earn one Charge and your Capacitance resets to zero. Depending on your ability, these charges function differently:

• Voltaic Emitter: Consumes all current charges at once to increase range and add bonus effects.
• Chordclaw Strike: Uses one charge per activation, allowing for multiple consecutive uses if you have stored charges.
• Advanced Combat Doctrine: Requires at least one charge to activate. It then drains Capacitance per second and per shot fired while active.

Passive and Active Generation

By default, you passively generate 2% Capacitance per second, meaning a full charge takes 50 seconds without any external modifiers. However, you can speed this up significantly during combat:

• Passive Kills: Gain 2% Capacitance per kill.
• Elite/Specialist Kills: Gain 4% Capacitance per kill.

Boosting Your Generation with Talents

To spam your abilities effectively, you should tailor your build using these specific talents and modifiers:

• Augmented Power-Cycle: Adds a flat 1% passive generation per second.
• Reactor Coil Recharge: Grants 2% Capacitance for every weakspot kill.
• Flux Conduit Build-Up: Generates 5% Capacitance over 4 seconds after landing a critical hit.
• Capacitor Reclamation Loop: Grants 1% Capacitance when hitting 3 or more enemies with a single attack.
• Satiated Steel (Chordclaw Strike modifier): Restores 25% Capacitance over 5 seconds after a Chordclaw kill.
• Higher Purpose (Flensing Protocols modifier): Adds an extra 5% Capacitance gain for Elite or Specialist kills.
• Redline Capacitors: Grants a stacking buff (+5% Capacitance generation per stack) when spending or gaining a charge. This also increases your maximum charges to 4.
