SAND: Raiders of Sophie Update 1 Brings Major Character Controller Fixes

Hologryph and tinyBuild have deployed the first major update for SAND: Raiders of Sophie, targeting a host of technical issues reported by the community since the game's recent launch. The patch focuses primarily on stabilizing the player experience, with significant attention directed toward the game's character controller.
Refining the Scavenger Experience
The developer confirmed that this update is the first in a series of planned improvements to movement. Players should notice a decrease in the frequency of getting stuck on various colliders, alongside more consistent shooting mechanics when playing on or from moving tramplers. These changes arrive alongside a series of quality-of-life fixes, including new onboarding notifications to guide teams through their first expeditions.
Visuals and stability also received attention in this patch:
- Lighting: Shadows have been adjusted to appear less dark, and overall terrain distinction has been improved.
- Technical Fixes: Issues with anti-aliasing and upscalers not applying in the menu have been resolved, and the T-pose bug that occurred after character death is now fixed.
- Trampler Stability: Invisible railings and collider issues triggered by packet loss or bad connections have been addressed, and the metal vestibule can now be correctly installed on tramplers.
The team also resolved several interaction bugs, such as the character soft-locking when using an occupied workbench and the disappearance of explosive barrels and Wok Bombs when climbing ladders.
Known Issues and Future Roadmap
Despite these improvements, the developers acknowledge that several high-priority issues persist. Currently, players may still experience camera jitter when crouch-walking over environmental objects, and avatars can occasionally become invulnerable to melee damage while interacting with turrets or steering wheels. Furthermore, the team is still investigating reports of characters teleporting while climbing ladders and objects remaining stuck in mid-air.
Perhaps most importantly for solo players, the issue causing individuals to be matched into larger crews is still pending a fix. Hologryph noted that they are actively working on a solution for this, along with further server-side stability improvements and DDoS protections.
The announcement also confirmed that the studio is moving forward with its development roadmap for SAND: Raiders of Sophie, which will evolve based on ongoing feedback from the community. In just four days since launch, the game has reached a milestone of over 100,000 players. Those looking to track progress or submit further reports are encouraged to visit the Steam Forums or the official Discord server.
