Shinobi: Art of Vengeance Hits Switch 2 on September 24

Sega announced on Thursday that Shinobi: Art of Vengeance is officially heading to the Nintendo Switch 2. While the title is a natural fit for the hardware, its arrival adds yet another entry to a September calendar that has become dangerously packed.
The game is slated for a September 24 release, a date that has quickly transformed into one of the busiest in the 2026 gaming calendar. With this latest announcement, there are now six major titles confirmed for that specific Tuesday. Developers appear to be scrambling to avoid the shadow of GTA 6, which is expected to dominate the market later in the year, but in doing so, they have created a bottleneck that threatens to bury multiple high-profile releases.
A Stacked September Schedule
Sharing the September 24 launch window are several other significant titles, including Control: Resonant and Silent Hill Townfall. The list continues with Hot Wheels: Infinite Rush, Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea, and the Switch 2 port of Dragon Quest 11 S.
The congestion isn't limited to just that single day, either. The surrounding weeks are similarly dense:
- September 23: Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave (Switch 2) and Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight (Switch 2) launch, alongside the console release of Dune Awakening.
- September 25: Onimusha: Way of the Sword arrives.
- September 29: Minecraft Dungeons 2 launches.
So far, Valor Mortis is the only title that has blinked, with its creators opting to shift their release date rather than compete with the surge of games arriving at the end of the month.
The Risks of a Crowded Launch
For players, the sheer volume of games hitting in late September presents a difficult choice. For studios, however, the competition for both media attention and consumer spending is intense. While many publishers are avoiding the November window entirely to keep distance from GTA 6, the concentration of games in late September risks cannibalizing sales across the board.
Shinobi: Art of Vengeance was originally released on August 29, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Xbox Series S/X. This upcoming Switch 2 version marks the latest expansion for the action-platformer, though it will have to fight for space in an increasingly unforgiving release schedule.
