Among Us Story: On Guard Announced as Single-Player Narrative Adventure

Innersloth is expanding the Among Us universe with a new, narrative-focused standalone title: Among Us Story: On Guard. After more than 900 million downloads of the original multiplayer party game, the developer is shifting gears to offer a single-player experience that trades chaotic social deduction for a more controlled, noir-inspired mystery.
- Genre: Narrative-driven single-player adventure
- Developer: Innersloth
- Platforms: PC, Nintendo Switch
- Demo Availability: June 15 – June 22, 2026 (Steam Next Fest)
A New Perspective on the MIRA R&D Facility
In On Guard, players step into the shoes of the ship’s security officer, tasked with maintaining order during a training program at MIRA R&D. The game's premise centers on a murder aboard the vessel, forcing the player to investigate the crime while navigating suspicion and tense interrogation sequences. According to lead game designer Carol Mertz, the goal is to allow players to experience the Among Us universe without the constant pressure of being murdered.
Gameplay involves gathering evidence, processing clues in various rooms, and managing the ship’s systems. During a demonstration at Summer Game Fest, Mertz highlighted the game's noir-like atmosphere. Players must navigate obstacles—such as locked doors—by utilizing air vents and other environmental shortcuts to reach key locations like the med bay, all while keeping an eye on the clock. Every dialogue choice and piece of testimony directly influences the outcome of the investigation.
Anniversary Celebrations and Cosmetics
The announcement of On Guard coincides with the 8th anniversary of the original Among Us. To celebrate, Innersloth is rolling out a variety of content updates across the franchise:
- Free Cosmetic: Players can claim an Among Us Story: On Guard-inspired hat between June 15 and July 15.
- New Cosmicubes: The "Cosmic Cosmicube" (space-themed items) and the "Showbiz Cosmicube" (skins from the animated series) are available now.
