Do You Really Know About Soccer? Review: A Missed Open Goal

If you have been listening to Lee Dixon’s commentary during the 2026 World Cup and thinking you could do a better job, you might be tempted by Do You Really Know About Soccer?. Unfortunately, this trivia game arrives like an opportunistic, rushed release rather than a well-thought-out challenge for football fans. With a lack of modes and a remarkably small bank of questions, it is a title that fails to capitalize on its own premise. I am giving it a 2/5.

⚡ Quick Facts
  • Developer: Afil Games
  • Platform: Xbox Series X (reviewed), Xbox One, PC
  • Release Date: June 16, 2026
  • Price: £4.19

A Lonely Experience on the Pitch

The first thing to know is that this is not a game you will be playing with your mates. There is no multiplayer mode, which feels like a massive oversight for a trivia game. You are tasked with answering increasingly difficult questions as you climb a tower—presumably because you kicked your ball up there and want it back. The format consists of four rounds with five questions each. If you get even one wrong, it is 'Game Over' and you are sent straight back to the start.

This one-mistake-and-you’re-out policy feels deflating, especially when the quality of the questions is so inconsistent. While the game includes "lifelines"—allowing you to re-roll questions or remove options—the currency for these is so generous that it barely balances the frustration of being booted back to the start for a single error.

Spotty Trivia and Repeated Questions

The game suffers from a clear European and South American bias, leaving almost no room for Asian or African football. The difficulty curve is also bizarre; you will start with questions as simple as "what shape is a football?" before suddenly being asked to recall specific goal scorers in Champions League finals.

The biggest issue, however, is the lack of content. I have played through the game to completion four times, and the questions are already repeating. With probably fewer than 100 questions in total, the game becomes a test of memorization rather than actual football knowledge. Furthermore, the wording on some questions is questionable. When asked which team "developed" Erling Haaland, the answer provided is Molde FK, despite a list of his other clubs being present as options. When you are on a "one strike and you're out" run, this kind of ambiguity is infuriating.

If you are looking for a way to kill time during the World Cup, Do You Really Know About Soccer? is technically timed well, but it lacks the depth, polish, and competitive modes to make it worth your £4.19.

OUR VERDICT
2/5/10
A shallow, repetitive quiz game that misses the target due to a tiny question bank and the complete absence of multiplayer.

  • Some challenging questions for deep-cut fans
  • Millionaire-style lifelines help manage the difficulty
