Overwatch Season 3 'Into the Tiger’s Den' Adds Shion and Neon Junction

Blizzard has unveiled Into the Tiger’s Den, the latest season for Overwatch. Launching in 2026, the update introduces a new Tokyo-inspired map, a high-mobility Damage hero, and a significant overhaul of the Hero Select screen alongside fresh Mythic and Ultra cosmetic tiers.
Meet Shion, Leader of the Hashimoto Clan
The newest addition to the roster is Shion, an Omnic Damage hero with a kit built for aggression. Formerly a training bot, Shion now leads the Hashimoto Clan. Her playstyle centers on high-speed dashes and dual pistols capable of a three-round firing cadence. Her signature ability allows her to ride her motorcycle through the battlefield before turning the bike itself into a projectile weapon.
Explore Neon Junction
The season adds a new Hybrid map, Neon Junction. Set in the streets of Tokyo, the map takes players through neon-lit storefronts and arcades, culminating in the payload escort toward the Zuiko-za district. The payload robot is ANDROMEDA III, piloted by Pia, inspired by the Super Cosmic War: Star☆Infinite series.
From June 16 to July 6, players can participate in the Anima Strike narrative event. The event features a branching path system across the Neon Junction map, offering over 50 themed rewards as players uncover the lore behind the Hashimoto and Yokai factions.
Community Crafted and Stadium Updates
Blizzard is handing some design control to the player base with the "Community Crafted" initiative. For two weeks, from June 30 to July 13, players can test experimental balance changes created in collaboration with Guxue, Ocie, Apply, and mL7support. These changes include a more aggressive Reinhardt, a reimagined Baptiste Immortality Field, adjusted Ashe/B.O.B. mechanics, and a reworked Sombra.
The "Stadium" competitive experience is also seeing major shifts. Several heroes, including Tracer, Kiriko, Sojourn, and Doomfist, are receiving reworks. Additionally, grouping restrictions for Ranked play are being removed, and Oasis University has been added to the map pool.
New Cosmetics: Mythics and Ultra Skins
Season 3 introduces two new Mythic items:
- Ascendant Phoenix Illari: A customizable skin featuring evolving wings and multiple colorways that showcase a "rebirth through flame" theme.
- Tokyo Rebel Hanzo: A weapon skin for Hanzo’s bow that evolves with player performance, featuring holographic dragons and custom kill effects.
Additionally, the season debuts "Ultra Skins," a new premium category. The initial launch includes Nyan Café Kiriko and Nyan Café Sierra, which feature custom audio suites and unique visual flair. Players can also earn up to 17 standard, 1 Epic, and 1 Legendary Loot Box through the "Excavation Initiative" by completing challenges and staying active throughout the season.
The Battle Pass for Into the Tiger’s Den features summer-themed cosmetics and provides up to 80 Mythic Prisms for those looking to unlock seasonal Mythics.
